Ma’had Tahfidzul Qur’an Muhammadiyah Ali Bin Abi Thalib Seyegan is an expansion of the Muhammadiyah Orphanage in Seyegan, which has been operating since 2006. The establishment of this Islamic boarding school (ma’had) aims to equip graduates of the orphanage with Islamic knowledge, including memorization of the Qur’an and Hadith, da’wah studies, Arabic language, Islamic history, and understanding of Muhammadiyah principles.
The ma’had was founded through a collaboration between PRM Margoagung, PCM Seyegan, and the Muhammadiyah Orphanage Seyegan. Its establishment was officially recognized by the Seyegan Branch Leadership of Muhammadiyah (PCM) through Decree No. 39/Kep/Iv.O/B/2024, which also appointed the board of management for the 2024–2029 period.
Although it was only established in 2024, the ma’had has received strong support from the community. Many parents have entrusted their children’s religious education to this institution. The students (santri) have shown remarkable enthusiasm in learning, especially in memorizing the Qur’an and Hadith.
In just a short time, the ma’had has achieved various accomplishments in religious, sports, and arts fields. Some students have successfully memorized up to 15 juz of the Qur’an. Additionally, they have won championships in pencak silat competitions at the regency level and actively participate in other positive activities.
The ma’had is built upon Islamic values that emphasize compassion, solidarity, and care for others. A hadith narrated by Ibn Umar RA states that the Prophet Muhammad SAW said:
“A Muslim is a brother to another Muslim. He does not oppress him nor abandon him. Whoever fulfills the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs. Whoever relieves his brother’s hardship, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. Whoever conceals the faults of his brother, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Judgment.” (Muttafaq ‘alaih)
Another hadith mentions that whoever places his hand on the head of an orphan with love, Allah will record a good deed for every strand of hair touched (HR. Ahmad, Ath-Thabrani, Ibn Hibban, Ibn Abi Aufa). This illustrates the bond among believers as one body—when love, compassion, and solidarity grow within a Muslim community, shared feelings of joy and sorrow will naturally emerge. Allah also affirms in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 177:
“Righteousness is not turning your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is in one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets, and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy…” (QS. Al-Baqarah 2:177)
Vision:
“To form a Qur’anic generation with the creed of Salafus Shalih, ready to carry out da’wah.”
